Young people involved in Code Club (creators) are invited to design an original sprite (character) that represents their club or community.
Share a photo, scan, or digital design of their sprite and tell us a little bit about it. We will choose a selection of sprites, and each will star in a new Code Club Scratch project that will launch in 2027!
Here is how to take part:
Explore what makes your club unique — for example, a shared interest, a favourite animal, food, or place, a club tradition, or something entirely imagined.
Help your club create an original sprite. Young people can use images of sprites or characters for inspiration, but the sprite should be original, and celebrate the creators' club, culture, or community. Choose one design to submit per club.
Guide your club to give the sprite a name and explain its story, including what inspired the design and how the sprite reflects your club or community. Ask your club to also describe how the sprite could move, and what it might do in a project.
Take a well-lit, clear photo or a scan of the sprite, or if creators have used a digital tool, download their design (if creators have designed their sprite in Scratch, download their project as an .sb3 file — you can see how to do this here).
Share your club's design and details about the sprite via this form by 9 November 2026.
Creating your club's design:
Creators can work on their own, in pairs, or as a group, but your club should only submit one design.
Creators can draw, colour, make a collage, or paint on a blank A5 or A4 piece of paper (you can use our template, if you like), or use a digital drawing tool, such as the Scratch 'Paint' editor.
- Creators should draw their sprite on its own, in the centre of a blank page (they should not colour in the background). If creators are making digital designs, they should use a transparent background if possible.
Your club's design does not need to be polished. If your club's sprite is selected, our design team will work it up for the new Scratch projects, keeping your club's ideas in focus.
If your club's sprite is selected, we will also send some Code Club swag to your club to help you celebrate.
We may also feature selected sprites on the Code Club blog.
